Rhianna Gray was born in the mid-nineteen-sixties to spirituality-seeking, health-food-eating, tropical-plant-loving parents. Her family moved around a lot during her childhood: Australia, Arizona, Hawaii, Florida, Washington, DC, and San Diego (in this order, with many visits to exotic and ordinary places in between). She and her six siblings were taken through many botanic gardens of the tropical and subtropical world. In her younger years, Rhianna gravitated toward the arts while attending a performing arts high school; and toward animals by milking the family's goats, riding horses across fields of blooming yellow mustard and foxtails in San Diego, and caring for dogs, cats, bunnies, budgies, peafowl, chickens, etc. She graduated cum laude from Sonoma State University in 1990 with a degree in Theatre Arts and English Literature with much of the English major completed at the University College of Swansea in the UK on a university exchange.
Upon moving to Boulder, Colorado, after graduation, the green family legacy manifested through her as she worked for many years as an organic market gardener, residential gardener, and apprentice at a medicinal herb company. Combining gardening and literature, she has been a member of Colorado Shakespeare Gardens since 1995, researching ol' Will Shakespeare's botanical references which contain a wealth of knowledge about the lore and signatures of plants, and how they connect to human states of being. This, in part, inspired her to pursue the study of flower essences. In addition, she intends to study homeopathy to expand her vibrational remedy repertoire.
Along with working with nature, Rhianna has pursued her passions in artistic disciplines: watercolor painting and color theory, singing and soprano recorder, improvisational dance, and theatre performance and production.
When tuning in with an animal, Rhianna utilizes her body as a receptor to the animal's body and its sensations, feelings, thoughts and motivations. The openness maintained through gardening, yoga, artistic practices, and Shakespeare's rhythmic and image-rich language, has nurtured her innate intuitive and empathetic faculties. Rhianna is grateful to her mother and her mother's "cronies" for sharing various psychic tools and skills, as well as to her family in general for encouraging these possibilities.
In 1997, Rhianna initially crossed paths with Dr. Dave and Linda McCluggage when she brought her sick kitty to them for healing therapies. Through working at Chaparral Animal Health Center as assistant, receptionist, animal communicator, natural diet consultant, and flower essence practitioner, she is constantly expanding her understanding of the holistic healing paradigm and feels immense joy in sharing this with clients and colleagues.
Rhianna still lives in Boulder, in an organic gardening, cooperative household with her two strapping boy kitties, Tiddy Mun and Geordie.
